Cześć! (Polish word for 'Hello'). Our aim was to gather music related words in 28 European languages! 26 countries have answered the call. Follow the map to meet them.













The Glossary departed from Portugal.




PORTUGAL | Espinho
Hello, Europe! Espinho is small seaside town in the north of Portugal, near Porto (the second biggest city in the country). Everybody here likes to go the beach in the Summer, although the sea is a little bit cold! Espinho has got 4 schools, hotels, a casino, lots of good restaurants and coffee shops, a library, a fishing museem, swimming pools, sports facilities, two music schools, an auditorium, a classical orchestra, cinema, a big fair, a camping park and a brand new youth hostel! It also has several festivals: Cinanima (a short films festival) and Festival de Música de Espinho (a music festival), for example. Espinho is a fishing town (born in 1899) and our streets are numbered like New York!

FINLAND | Pyhäjärvi
Hello, Europe! Pyhäjärvi is a small town in the middle of Finland. In Pyhäjärvi, we have about 6000 inhabitants. We have a big beautifull lake called Pyhäjärvi. In Pyhäjärvi we have six schools, swimming pool, ice hockey hall, hotel, a library and we have also European deepest mine (about 1500m). Every summer  in Pyhäjärvi is Full moon dance festival. It is international festival. Olympic winner and world champion skiier (active period 1972-1977)  Helena Takalo lives in Pyhäjärvi.

THE CZECH REPUBLIC | Pruhonice
Hello, Europe! Pruhonice is a bigger village with everything you need (post, a primary school, few shops and 2 bank branch).  But there is even more! There is a castle in the large beautiful park and this is why is our village  a little bit more turistic during the spring, summer and autumn. There is a huge modern aquapalace - the biggest one in our country - and it is only 1 km distance from our school! Pruhonice is very close to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.

LITHUANIA | Klaipėda
Hello, Europe! Klaipėda - the third largest city of Lithuania - is situated in the Western part of the country. Klaipėda is the oldest Lithuania city: first mentioned in the Chronicles of Memelburg in 1252. Until the 15th century, the city was developing closer to the castle, which was situated on the islands formed from the Danė River tributaries. The castle was rebuilt several times and the city accordingly changed location as well. Until the late 15th century the southern city border stretched to the present day.

POLAND | Sucha Beskidzka
Hello, Europe! Sucha Beskidzka is a town situated in the Beskid Mountains. There are many interesting places to visit and to spend time. If you are interested in history, you should go and see the beautiful castle called "Little Wawel". You can also visit a restaurant "Rzym Inn" where traditional food is served. In the modern part of Sucha there are a lot of shops where you can buy almost everything. When you want to relax, you can go to the swimming pool or sit on the picturesque banks of  the Skawa River.

TURKEY | Ankara
Hello Europe! Ankara is the capital city of Turkey. It is the second biggest city after İstanbul. It's in the center of Turkey. Its population is about 6 million. Ankara is an important commercial and industrial city. It has been the center of the Turkish government and house of all foreign embassies. It has also got a lot of historical places.

HUNGARY | Kállósemjén
Hello Europe! Kállósemjén is a little village in north-east Hungary. Its population is about 4000. We have three churches. We have only 1 school. This is a primary school. It has about 300 students. Here lived the Prime Minister of Hungary during the World War II.

ITALY | Andria
Hello People! Andria is a city with a population about 100.000. It is situated in the south of Italy, in a region called "Puglia". Our school is a First Level Secondary School: pupils are from 11 to 14 years old, and are about 400. In this school there is a special course, called "orientamento musicale" (musical leanings) in which our pupils learn to play a musical instrument. ROMANIA | Sacele - Brasov
Hello, partners! Sacele is a little town in the center of Romania, in the metropolitan area of Brasov, a big and important city of our country. With a population of 31.000 inhabitants, Sacele is an interethnic town, here living hungarian people, romani people, german people and, of course, romanian people. Our school is very small, just 200 pupils from all ethnicities. In our region are many natural beauties and natural parks and reservations: Mountains "Piatra Craiului" National Park, Nature Reserve "Glade of Daffodils", Natural Reserve of basalt columns from Racos and more others.

SWEDEN | Göteborg / Gothenburg
Hello all! Gothenburg is the English name of our beautiful city. Its Swedish name is Göteborg. It is the second largest city in Sweden and important local business include shipping and automobile manufacturors. Our school is a large upper secondary school where students study to become welders and electricians.

GERMANY | Berlin
Our School is in the middle of Berlin. But Berlin has more than one center. You´ll remember in former time Berlin was two cities. East and Westberlin. Our school is in Tiergarten, which is also a big park and named for a cityquarter in Berlin. We are near to the Potsdamer Platz too and  the Philharmonie where our schoolorchester already peformed. Berlin is a very interesting city with about 3 millions inhabitants, lots of green parks, many cultural events and full of history like all capitals.

SPAIN | Miguelturra
Miguelturra is in the middle of Spain, close to Madrid. There are 5 primary schools and 1 secondary school. Ours is the one with a bilingual English-Spanish program. We learn Music, Science and Arts and Crafts in English. Carnival is a big party here and everybody likes to disguise itself. Miguelturra is known in our region for our Carnival (february).

NORWAY | Saltnes
Hello everyone! Saltnes is a small place situated at the South East part of the Oslo fjord. It is 15 km to the nearest town, Fredrikstad. We are close to the beach and close to the forest, and therefore we also use our surroundings a lot during schoolhours for exercise and for outdoor school. It is also a popular area for tourists. There are lots of camping sites and cabins, and the Old Town in Fredrikstad, is one of the best kept fortified towns in Northern Europe. We are quite proud of it. The landscape around the Oslo fjord is very rocky, as you can see from the pictures. BULGARIA | Kazanlak
Hello Europe! Bulgaria is one of the oldest countries in Eastern Europe. The language which we talk is bulgarian. Our  alphabeth which was made in the 855th year of Saints Cyril and Methodius is called "Glagolitic alphabet" . Kliment Ohridski was performent it and called the new grafhic system to his teacher - Cyril. Today Bulgaria like a part of EU is it's south-east boundary. With the accession of Bulgaria to the European Union on 1 January 2007, Cyrillic became the third official alphabet of the European Union, following the Latin and Greek alphabets. Kazanlak is in the middle of Bulgaria.

ESTONIA | Kuressaare
Kuressaare is the capital of Saaremaa. The city, located at the Livonia Bay, has territory of about 15 sq.km and a population of about 15,000. Kuressaare obtained freedom of a city in 1563 and it has been called with different names throughout its existence. The historic German-like name, Arensburg, was replaced by Kuressaare in 1917. During the Soviet period in 1952-1988 it was called Kingissepa after the bolshevik Viktor Kingissepp who was born here. Kuressaare was the first city in Estonia where self-governing status was restored in October 1990. Today, Kuressaare is a safe and healthy city, open for international co-operation and communication and having eight twin-towns. We enjoy living on the island and the benefits it gives us, there is a lot to see here and many enjoyable activities to do.

MALTA | Mosta
Mosta is a big town in the centre of the island.  There are many interesting places worth visiting but most important is the Mosta Dome, a big church built about 150 years ago.  The church boasts of the biggest mechanical organ in the world.  Lately it has been repaired because it wasn't being used for quite a long time.  On the outskirts there is a valley which is very green in winter.  In Mosta there are many shops in fact many shoppers visit this town to do their shopping.  There are 4 statal schools in this village, 2 secondary and 2 primary.

SLOVENIA | Maribor

The capital city of Slovenia is Liubliana.

GREECE | Agrinio
Hello, Europe! Agrinio is the largest city and a municipality of the Aetolia-Acarnania prefecture of Greece, with 57,174 inhabitants. The settlement dates back to ancient times. Ancient Agrinion was 3 km northeast of the present town; some walls and foundations have been excavated. In medieval times and until 1925, the area was known as Vrachori (Βραχώρι).  The majority of local people were for a time tobacco farmers at the close of 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.

LATVIA | Riga
Riga is the capital city of Latvia. It isn't big, but here are lots of things and places to see. Everybody likes the old city of Riga. Riga has got lots of schools, museums, good theatres like Dailes Teātris, swimming pools, sports facilities, music schools, cinema, lots of parks,a library, lots of coffee shops and restaurants, hotels and lots of shopping malls. In Riga we have great festivals like light festival Riga Shine. Latvians are great at sports, our hockey team Dinamo Rīga is a proof of it.

DENMARK | Vordingborg
Our school is situated in a small town with about 9.000 inhabitants. It is situated close to the sea with two minor harbours - primarily for leasure yachting. We also have forrests and a large cliff close by (Møns klint). The most famous building in Vordingborg is the 'Goose Tower' from 1100, situated in the middel of the town, overlooking the sea. Next to the tower are the remains of a castle, where the Danish kings resided untill around 1500. The castle was raised in order to defend us from the Wends (western Slavs).  We also have the beautiful Church of Our Lady from 1432 (with later extensions). We have 3 schools, two secondary schools, an adult education center and a university college for teachers. Each summer we have the WAVES theatre festival.

UNITED KINGDOM | North Lincolshire
The capital city of the United Kingdom is London.

N.IRELAND | Belfast
Belfast is the capital of N.Ireland. It is a harbour and two airports should you decide to come and visit us... The Titanic was built in Belfast and the Harland and Wolf cranes are still here as a testimony of it. Belfast is a city full of culture with a few theaters, an opera house and many places to go to to hear music of all kinds, classical, pop, traditional etc... Its university is well reputed and attracts students from all over the world. It has has changed a lot during the last 10 years and now there is something to do for everybody.
